CODE FOR MOROCCO

Giving Citizens Actionable Information

WHO WE ARE?

Code for Morocco is part of the Code for Africa initiative which aims  to promote informed decision-making that drives social change.

We use information and communication technology tools, to provide citizens with the right information to make fair decisions and have a clear vision, that reinforces civic engagement to improve public governance and accountability.

New technology tools can not be efficient without relevant data, that’s why code for morocco collaborates with many NGO’s to gather data with profissional hand.

We are also a channel innovative tools and knowledge from the rest of the world, into Morocco, through our membership of the continental Code for Africa federation, which is Africa’s largest network of civic technology laboratories and open data activists.

Code for Morocco shares an alliance with the rest of the Federation of the Code for Africa, based on the following guiding principles:

  1. We are engaging citizens.Through new technologies, we create tools and visualizations that will enable citizens to engage in the development of the country and give its opinion on what is happening today.
  2. Encouraging a digital democracy. We seek to focus on practical tools and action-oriented tools that give an “agency” to citizens.
  3. We operate in public. We promote openness in our work and in the work of our partners.  All of our digital tools are open source and all our information is open data.  We actively encourage documentation, sharing, collaboration, and reuse of both our own tools, programmes, and processes, as well as those of partners.
  4. We help build ecosystems. We operate as a pan-African federation of organizations that are active members of a global community, leveraging everyone’s knowledge and resources, because all of our work is better if we are all connected.
